New Objectives Require Patient Engagement Stage 2 of the CMS EHR Incentive Programs will begin in 2014 for those Eligible Professionals (EPs) who have completed two stage 1 reporting periods. Stage 2 includes new objectives for EPs to improve patient care through better clinical decision support, care coordination, and patient engagement. Will Medicaid be Expanded in the EHR Incentive Program?

MITECH Act Reintroduced to Expand Medicaid EHR Incentive Program Lawmakers have reintroduced efforts to expand meaningful use incentive payments to certain clinics and safetey-net providers who are not currently eligible for the Medicaid EHR Incentive Program.  The Medicaid Information Technology to Enhance Community Health Act of 2013 (MITECH Act), is similar a bill sponsored by then-Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) last year (S 3539). The Kerry bill looked to change the 30% Medicaid threshold required to participate in the Medicaid EHR incentive program.
